As July comes to an end it is time once again for the monthly unboxing of Loot Crate. For people that don’t know LootCrate is a monthly subscription box for fans of various pop culture areas including comics, video games, TV, movies, etc. It is filled with 4-7 various items including a T-shirt every month. The cost of the box is right around $20 a month and with that they say the items should value at least $45

This month we travel forward in time as the monthly theme is Futuristic, with items from Futurama, Rick and Morty, Valiant Comics, and Star Trek the Next Generation all teased throughout the promotional materials.

Good sized box this month and that is always a good sign. If it fits in the mailbox it has been my experience its not as good.

First off we have an Exclusive Rick and Morty T-shirt (Loot Crate Labs)

image

The t-shirt represents the Portal Gun, which as any fan of the show would know always plays an important part of the show. The color is a blueish grey. It is definitely soft and fits true to size which is always a worry when you get some of these bling boxes. This is a shirt that will defiantly get you some geek-cred when you wear it out.

Value: $10

Next up in the box is an Exclusive Planet Express ship model from Futurama (QMX)

image

This exclusive model from QMX is made of a resin type material and is highly detailed to look exactly like the famous ship from Futurama. Loot Crate has done models in the past and they have been hit and miss in my opinion, but this one is spot on. One feature that I like is the ship is held on the stand by a magnet so it makes it easy to remove if you want to show it to people.

Value: $15 (average eBay sold listings )

Third item in the box is another exclusive Star Trek Dedication Plaque Replica Decal (BD & A)

image

This decal is 4.5 inches by 3 inches. According to the Loot Crate magazine it’s re-positionable if you decide that you don’t like where you have placed it. Fans of the franchise in general will appreciate the fact that the plaque lists several of the people who were instrumental in making the shows and movies.

Value: $ 4 (Average Ebay sold listings)

Next is an¬†Exclusive 3” Mega Man Red Variant Figure (Kidrobot)¬†

I have to say as much as I like Funko Pops!, I love the Kidrobot stuff more. Most of their figurines are more detailed and you know right away who it respects if you are a fan of the franchise. This figure is part of a larger blind box series that Kidrobot is putting out, but the Red Variant is exclusive to Loot Crate. Loot Crate did a helmet only model a couple of years ago, but this is so much better in my opinion.

Value: $6 ( Average Ebay sold listing)

Last item in the box is an Exclusive Valiant Comics 4001 A.D. #1 (Valiant Comics)

It has been awhile since Loot Crate has done a comic within the box. One of the things that I like when they do a comic is that if it’s something I already read it gives me the chance to collect a variant cover. And if it’s not something read it gives me to check out something new at minimal cost. Valiant of course has been in the news recently with the number of awards they have been nominated for.

Value: $3 (Cost of the comic)

Included in the box as always is the LootCrate Magazine and monthly pin

Futuristic

The pin is of course the iconic Live Long and Prosper symbol. With the pin comes the ability join the Star Trek Online game and gives you access to exclusive ships, weapons, etc to help your game play.

The Magazine has some really fun articles this month including, The Best Star Trek Captains, Times Futurama Made Us Cry, a Valiant Comics Guide, and Future Tech that Should Exist by Now

Overall Value: $38

The value does not include the pin which Loot Crate says the exclusive items on the game is over $50. Seeing as all the items are exclusive this month that does bring the value up more in my opinion.  This month was a lot better than last month. Two things that can be added to the shelf with the Mega Man and the Planet Express ship figures, a well made T-shirt, and a exclusive comic are all things that I will be using. The decal really was the only item that I was not a fan of and will go into a pile of stuff to be given away. If you are a fan of lots of different genres I highly recommend the Loot Crate Core crate.
