Here you are my dear readers, the last Halloween Funko Friday special. With so many Halloween/Horror related Funko Pops. For my last Funko Friday post I wanted to focus on a particular Funko and since the new series of American Horror Story has started, I thought the Countess from American Horror Story 5 would be a great Funko to finish on.
American Horror Story
American Horror Story is an American Horror Television show devised by Glee and Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy. Described as an anthology series, AHS seasons are conceived as their very own miniseries, which will then follow a series of characters, and once the series ends, you may (or may not) see them again, especially since some story-lines are set in the past while other are set in the present. Each miniseries has it’s own ‘beginning, middle, and end’ with some plot elements are based on true events, something that season 5 relied heavily on (not that it’s a bad thing).
American Horror Story: Hotel
American Horror Story: Hotel is the fifth season from Ryan Murphy’s hit TV show. Hotel marks the first season where Jessica Lange would not be participating which upset many fans (I’m still slightly bitter about it). The series cast includes Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett (Queen), Chloe Sevigny, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Gabourey Sidibe, Mare Winningham, Matt Bomer, John Carroll Lynch and Anthony Ruivivar and introduced newest cast members Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson and Max Greenfield. It was the first season from the anthology series that interconnected with season 1 and 3.
The plot centres around the eccentric Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles, which catches the attention of homocide detective. The cortez is host to an array of strange and psychotic characters, all spearheaded by the blood sucking fashionista The Countess. The season features two murderous threats in the form of The Ten Commandments killer who selects his victims in accordance with biblical teachings, and ‘The Addiction Demon’ who owns a particular and painful instrument. He was gruesome.
This has to be one of my favourite Funko Pops I own and I’m really lucky to have found it in my local comic book store. Her hair has been painted into a lush yellow, as well as her eyebrows. They way they’ve done her eyes are amazing!! The way they’ve done her eyelashes really suit her character and her dress is just a lush shade of red and her stance suits her character perfectly. Her silver glove speaks for itself. The details on her glove is immaculate and the paint job is second to none.
